Welcome. I am a PhD Candidate in the Government Department at Cornell University and a 2023-2024 Morgenthau Fellow at the International Security Center at University of Notre Dame. Previously, I was a Predoctoral Research Fellow at the Institute for Security and Conflict Studies at George Washington University. In 2024-2025, I will be a Rosenwald Postdoctoral Fellow at the Dickey Center for International Understanding at Dartmouth College. In 2025, I will begin as an Assistant Professor in the Government Department at William and Mary.

I study the decolonial and democratic origins of nationalism and their implications for international relations in East Asia. Working across the disciplinary divides, my research explores how we—as a national unit—negotiate whose and which stories we tell.

My research has been published in International Organization. My work has received the Barbara W. Tuchman Prize (2024, honorable mention in 2022), Martin O. Heisler Award (2024), Catherine McArdle Kelleher Article Award (2023), Alexander George Article Award (2023), Fred Hartmann Award (2023), Women’s Caucus for International Studies (WCIS) Award (2022), ISA Theory Section Pre-PhD Award (2022), and George Kahin Prize (2022) from the American Political Science Association, International Studies Association, and Cornell University.

Occasionally, I write commentaries on contemporary policy issues. My writings have appeared in outlets such as Foreign Affairs, The National Interest, and The Diplomat, as well as in think tank publications, including by the Brookings Institution, Carnegie Endowment for International Peace, and Rand Corporation.
